Dental Extraction

Often referred to as ‘having a tooth pulled,’ it's a routine procedure our skilled dental surgeons handle with utmost precision.

It is typically done under local anesthesia, so you won’t feel any pain.  The recovery time varies from patient to patient, and we do everything we can to make it gentle, precise, and as stress-free as possible.

You may need a tooth extraction for any number of reasons:

  1. severely decayed tooth

  2. advanced gum disease

  3. broken tooth that cannot be repaired

  4. poorly positioned in the mouth ( impacted teeth/in preparation for orthodontic treatment)

The removal of a single tooth can lead to problems related to your chewing ability, problems with your jaw joint, and shifting teeth, which can have a major impact on your dental health.

To avoid these complications, the dentist will discuss alternatives to extractions as well replacement of the extracted tooth.

Bone Grafting

A dental bone graft is necessary when bone loss has occurred in the jaw. It is commonly performed prior to dental implant placement or when bone loss is negatively affecting adjacent teeth. The goal is to add volume and density to any affected area where bone loss may have occurred.

Why do you need a dental bone graft?

  1. Are having a tooth extracted.

  2. Plan to replace a missing tooth with a dental implant.

  3. Need to rebuild the jaw before getting dentures.

  4. Have areas of bone loss due to gum disease.

Following a dental bone graft, you may have pain, swelling/bruising which should diminish in a few days. Your dentist may give you painkillers and antibiotics to manage your symptoms.
